Brentford kept their European football ambitions alive with a narrow 1-0 victory over relegated Ipswich Town at Portman Road in Saturday’s Premier League clash.
Though Ipswich started the game on the front foot, it was the visitors who struck first. Kevin Schade broke the deadlock in the 18th minute, rising to head home from a Bryan Mbeumo corner, capitalizing on disarray in the Ipswich defence to find the far corner.
Brentford looked to double their advantage shortly after the restart, but Yoane Wissa was denied by Ipswich keeper Alex Palmer.
Palmer was called into action again in the 73rd minute, producing an impressive stop to thwart Mbeumo’s right-footed volley.
With this result, Brentford move up to eighth place on the Premier League table with 55 points from 36 games.
Ipswich remain in 18th position, having managed just four wins all season and sitting on 22 points.
