Social media personalities Enioluwa Adeoluwa and Tomike Adeoye on Friday joined hundreds of food lovers at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, to support celebrity chef Hilda Baci in her quest to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice.
The culinary challenge, tagged the Gino Jollof Festival, kicked off with Baci preparing to cook 250 bags of rice in a custom-made pot measuring six metres in both width and height.
Organisers say the meal is expected to feed tens of thousands of attendees, with more than 20,000 registrations already recorded.
Baci, who shot to global fame in 2023 after breaking the world record for the longest cooking marathon, assured participants that the food would meet high standards of taste and hygiene.
“This is more than just cooking; it’s a celebration of our culture on a massive scale. I promise everyone a record-breaking and memorable experience,” she said.
Enioluwa, who had supported her during her cook-a-thon two years ago, shared his admiration on Instagram. “There’s truly nothing you set your mind to that you don’t achieve,” he wrote.
“You’re such a go-getter — an incredible friend, an amazing sister, and one of the best things to happen to my world. Today, as you break yet another record, just know I’m cheering you on with all my heart.”
Tomike, who took on the role of host at the festival, also praised Baci’s resilience. In her words: “Hilda Baci is set to break another record and we’re here to witness greatness happening in our generation! You’ve done it before, you will do it again with God on your side.”
