A fire incident on Saturday morning damaged parts of the Federal Inland Revenue Service office in Abuja, with preliminary findings pointing to a possible electrical fault as the cause.
The blaze reportedly broke out on the fourth floor of the building and was first noticed by security personnel on duty, who raised the alarm and took immediate steps to contain the situation.
In a statement shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the agency said emergency responders, including the Federal Capital Territory Fire Service, arrived promptly and prevented the fire from spreading to other sections of the complex.
“No life was lost in the incident, and the fire was successfully brought under control through the swift intervention of emergency services,” the statement said.
Although several offices on the affected floor were damaged, FIRS said the situation was quickly stabilized.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire may have been caused by an electrical fault, though a comprehensive inquiry is still ongoing,” the agency noted.
FIRS added that it is reviewing and strengthening its internal safety and emergency response measures to avert similar occurrences in the future.
The service also expressed appreciation to emergency responders and staff members for their quick action, which it said helped to ensure the safety of personnel and limit property damage.
