An aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Abdul Rasheeth, has asserted that the northern region has lost interest in anything related to former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Rasheeth made this statement on X (formerly Twitter) in response to Buhari’s recent remarks reaffirming his commitment to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The former president’s comments followed claims by ex-Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai that he had informed Buhari before his defection from the APC to the Social Democratic Party.
In his response, Atiku’s aide argued that El-Rufai’s decision to involve Buhari in his defection announcement had only worsened his situation. Rasheeth pointed to reactions from the North and comments on BBC Hausa, indicating that Buhari’s name no longer holds significant political weight in the region.
“By linking himself to Buhari, he has only created more trouble for himself, as the North is not interested in hearing anything related to Buhari,” Rasheeth said.
