Ekiti gov Oyebanji resumes after two-week annual leave

Biodun Oyebanji, the Ekiti State Governor, is set to return to work on Monday after completing his two-week annual leave.

The governor’s return was announced in a statement issued on Sunday in Ado Ekiti by his Special Adviser on Media, Olayinka Oyebode.

Oyebode explained that the leave was part of Oyebanji’s statutory annual vacation, adding that the governor remained engaged with important matters concerning the administration of the state while away from his official duties.

According to him, Oyebanji is returning to office with renewed energy as his administration prepares for the commencement of its second term.

“While on leave, Governor Oyebanji, however, attended to crucial matters relating to governance and administration of the State,” Oyebode said.

He added that the governor was “resuming with renewed vigour as preparations for the commencement of his second-term administration gather momentum.”

Oyebanji is expected to complete his first term on October 15, with his second term scheduled to begin on October 16.

The governor secured re-election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in the June 20 Ekiti governorship election, defeating his challengers across all 16 local government areas of the state.

Following the victory, Oyebanji described the renewed mandate as an opportunity to deepen his administration’s service to the people.

He pledged to build on existing achievements, strengthen the implementation of policies targeted at improving the lives of residents and continue governing with integrity.

“I give God all the glory and today is a celebration of democracy in Ekiti State. I am so humbled by this overwhelming victory and I thank God for this,” Oyebanji said after the election.

He also dedicated the victory to God and President Bola Tinubu, describing the outcome as a demonstration of confidence in his administration and the Federal Government.
