Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have raided the Green Legacy Hotel, located within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library complex in Abeokuta, Ogun State, arresting several youths suspected to be involved in internet fraud.

The operation, reportedly conducted by EFCC officers from the Lagos Directorate, took place in the early hours of Sunday during a pool party at the hotel.

Eyewitness videos circulating online showed partygoers fleeing as gunshots rang out during the raid. According to sources, the EFCC operatives seized over 20 luxury vehicles and other valuables from the scene.

A source familiar with the operation said, “They came in suddenly, and before anyone knew what was happening, people were running for safety. I saw them towing cars and taking away young men suspected to be ‘Yahoo boys.’”

The Managing Director of OOPL Ventures, Mr. Vitalis Ortese, confirmed the incident but withheld details. “Yes, they did. There was an incident this morning. We will find out and we will let you know,” he stated.

The EFCC spokesperson for the Lagos zonal command, Mr. Ayo Oyewole, said he was not aware of the raid at the time of inquiry but promised to confirm. Similarly, the commission’s national spokesperson, Mr. Dele Oyewale, said he would verify the development.

Sunday’s raid comes just days after EFCC operatives from the Ibadan zonal office arrested 55 suspects — including one in possession of two locally-made pistols — during a separate operation at a hotel in Itori, Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State.
