Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, held a meeting with representatives from the Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh communities to address their longstanding land dispute.
The discussion, which aimed at finding a resolution to the conflict between the two communities in Udu and Warri South-West Local Government Areas, took place at the Governor’s Osubi residence on Saturday.
The meeting was attended by members of the peace committee that had been formed to tackle the challenges arising from the Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh crisis. Both communities expressed their commitment to fostering peaceful coexistence and agreed on mutually acceptable terms for resolving the dispute.
Governor Oborevwori commended the elders and youth from both communities for their dedication to pursuing peace. He assured them that a formal statement regarding the agreed terms would be made soon.
Representatives from Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh also expressed their gratitude to the Governor for his proactive approach and effective intervention in resolving the protracted conflict.
In addition to the peace efforts, Governor Oborevwori had previously secured approval from the State Executive Council for the construction of the Aladja/Ogbe-Ijoh road, which is expected to improve accessibility and promote interaction between the two communities.
