Dangote refinery hikes petrol price to N1,350/litre

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has raised its gantry price for Premium Motor Spirit, popularly known as petrol, from N1,265 to N1,350 per litre, effective Saturday, September 12, 2026.

The Punch reported that the latest increase represents an N85 rise and marks the fourth upward adjustment by the refinery since August 21, when its petrol price stood at N1,165 per litre.

The refinery first increased the price to N1,185 per litre on August 21, before another adjustment to N1,200 on August 26.

It was subsequently raised to N1,265 on August 29, bringing the total increase in 22 days to N185, or about 15.9 per cent.

In a circular issued late Friday by the Group Commercial Operations of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals, customers were informed of the new prices.

The circular read, “Dear Valued Customer, please find below the revised DPRP PMS gantry and coastal prices, which are effective from 12th September 2026,
“Coastal (MT): The old price of ₦1,669,545 has been revised to ₦1,783,530.

Gantry (LTR): The old price of ₦1,265 per litre has been revised to ₦1,350 per litre.

“You are advised to return all ATCs for repricing, and a new volume contract will be issued for immediate resumption of loading.

The company also adjusted its coastal delivery price from N1,669,545 to N1,783,530 per metric tonne, while customers were directed to return existing Authority to Collect documents for repricing.

The latest adjustment comes amid rising international crude oil prices.

Brent crude recently moved above $104 per barrel after previously climbing beyond $107, as disruptions linked to the ongoing confrontation between the United States and Iran affected oil supplies through the Strait of Hormuz.

The reduced flow of oil through the strategic waterway, coupled with attacks on tankers and shipping restrictions, has heightened concerns over global supplies and contributed to pressure on refined petroleum product prices.

Officials of the Dangote refinery had yet to respond to messages seeking further clarification on the latest price increase as of the time of filing this report.
