Ali Bukar Dalori has taken over as the acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, following a directive from President Bola Tinubu.
This development comes after Abdullahi Ganduje formally stepped down from his role, submitting a resignation letter through the party’s National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, to the National Working Committee.
The APC’s official confirmation of Dalori’s appointment clears up lingering speculation over Ganduje’s anticipated exit from the position.
According to the party’s spokesperson, Felix Morka, Dalori, who serves as Deputy National Chairman (North), will hold the position in an interim capacity until a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee is convened.
Morka stated, “The President has directed the Deputy National Chairman (North), Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, to assume the position of Acting National Chairman, pending the meeting of the National Executive Committee of the Party to be summoned immediately to fill the vacancy created by the resignation.”
Ganduje’s unexpected resignation has been linked to strategic political realignments believed to be aimed at strengthening President Tinubu’s 2027 reelection prospects.
Although there were initial reports suggesting health-related reasons for his departure, those claims were later dismissed, with sources indicating he stepped aside to enable the potential return of a prominent Northern political figure.
