Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has called for unity within the Southwest chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party to strengthen the party ahead of elections.

Speaking during the commissioning of the South West Secretariat, named in honour of the late zonal Vice Chairman, Hon. Soji Adagunodo, in Ibadan, the governor urged party stalwarts to set aside past divisions in memory of Adagunodo.

Adeleke, in a statement by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, urged the party to reinforce solidarity both within the region and across the country.

Adeleke said: “The significance of today’s event is the clarion call for unity and deeper brotherhood among PDP at home and abroad. We must forget the past of division and unite for the good of our dear party.

“It is better for us to fight each other inside Government House than outside. We must refocus attention on building strong administrative operational structures.

“With that, we can deploy for elections, retain our existing states and even expand our reach across the six zones of the federation,” the governor told top party leaders at the event.

Supporting Adeleke, Governor Seyi Makinde, the host of the event, said the presence of factions at the event was a positive indication of the party’s renewed strength.

He encouraged party leaders and members to move beyond past disagreements and work collaboratively to secure victories in upcoming elections, praising Adeleke for his leadership and commitment to the party’s goals.
