A High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State, has convicted and sentenced Lawal Awalu Ahmadu to life imprisonment for kidnapping offenses.
The judgment was delivered by Justice Fola Ajayi after Ahmadu’s arraignment by the State Security Service in October 2023 on two counts of conspiracy to kidnap and kidnapping.
The court found Ahmadu guilty of abducting five victims and collecting a ransom of N1,250,000. In his ruling, Justice Ajayi noted that while none of the victims died in captivity, the severity of the crime warranted the maximum punishment under state law.
“The suspect is hereby sentenced to imprisonment for life without option of fine,” Justice Ajayi declared, emphasizing the court’s stance against kidnapping in Kogi State.
