COAS charges troops to crush security threats

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has issued a firm directive to Nigerian troops to confront all security challenges facing the country with determination and force.

Delivering the message on behalf of the COAS at an Eid-el-Adha lunch with soldiers at the Forward Operating Base of Sub-sector 6 under Operation Fansan Yanma in Fatika, Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was Maj.-Gen. Erema Akerejola, Chief of Logistics, Nigerian Army.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Oluyede paid homage to the gallant officers and men of the Nigerian Army who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, affirming their legacy lives on in Nigeria’s journey to unity, peace, and stability.

He commended the unwavering courage and loyalty shown by the troops, noting that their sacrifices had led to major successes on the battlefield despite significant threats.

“The Nigerian Army brave and dedicated troops had demonstrated unalloyed loyalty, uncommon courage and faith, which resulted in significant victories in the face of grave dangers,” he stated.

The Army Chief reflected on the relative peace regained across various parts of the country and expressed gratitude for life and progress, reiterating the military’s optimism for a safer and more prosperous Nigeria.

He acknowledged the physical and emotional toll on soldiers, many of whom bear visible signs of combat, while others continue to share stories of sacrifice and resilience.

He prayed for the souls of the fallen heroes and gave assurance to their families that the nation would never forget their valor.

“Their selfless heroism would forever be etched in the hearts of Nigerians and humanity,” he said.

Reaffirming the military’s unwavering stance, Oluyede said the Nigerian Army remains fully committed to protecting the country’s territorial integrity from any form of aggression.

Marking the significance of Eid-el-Kabir, he highlighted the festival’s deeper message of sacrifice and the strength that emerges from selfless acts and compassion.

“Eid-El-Kabir was a significant festival that highlighted the essential virtue of sacrifice as a nation and a reminder of the strength found in selflessness and compassion towards others,” he added.

He extended his appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his steadfast support, visionary leadership, and strategic direction in steering the nation’s defense efforts.

Oluyede also acknowledged the enduring trust and support of the Nigerian people toward the Army’s mission.

“The Nigerian Army looks forward to a more formidable collaboration to end all forms of insecurity and create an enabling environment for economic growth, stability and prosperity,” he concluded.
