Newly appointed Real Madrid manager, Xabi Alonso, has declared that his side is fully focused and prepared to take on Saudi Arabian champions Al Hilal in their opening match of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

With high expectations resting on Los Blancos to compete strongly for the title this June, Alonso emphasized the urgency of getting the squad ready in time for Wednesday night’s clash.

In a statement published on the club’s official website, Alonso spoke about the challenges and ambitions of this fresh chapter at Real Madrid.

“We’re starting a new era and we have to prioritize what’s important: what we want to be, how we want to play, and how we feel about it.

“We want to be able to do that from the very beginning, from the match against Al Hilal. First, we have to recognise ourselves.

“Little by little, you’re getting to know them, you’re having that much-needed contact, and little by little, more players are arriving.”

As preparations continue, Alonso is laying the foundation for a new identity at the club, hoping to stamp his vision early in the tournament.
