Club W’Cup: PSG humble, eliminate Messi’s Inter Miami after 4-0 win

1 Min Read

Lionel Messi’s hopes of Club World Cup glory with Inter Miami were dashed in brutal fashion, as the MLS side suffered a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain, the club where Messi recently spent two seasons.

The round of 16 clash in Atlanta quickly turned into a nightmare for Inter Miami, with PSG firing all four goals in a dominant first-half display.

Rising star João Neves opened the scoring in the sixth minute with a free header and doubled the lead 30 minutes later by capping off a fluid team move.

An unfortunate own goal from Tomas Avilés extended the French champions’ lead, before Achraf Hakimi piled on more misery with a composed finish just before halftime.

With the convincing victory, PSG move on to the quarterfinals, where they’ll face the winner of the Flamengo vs Bayern Munich showdown scheduled for Saturday.
