Chelsea have officially announced the acquisition of Mamadou Sarr from Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg, with the young defender committing to a long-term contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2033.
The 19-year-old impressed during the 2024/2025 campaign, becoming a mainstay in Strasbourg’s backline.
He featured in 28 matches across all competitions and was instrumental in the club’s qualification for European football next season.
“Welcome to Chelsea, Mamadou,” read part of the club’s statement released on Monday.
In another development, Manchester City have confirmed veteran goalkeeper Scott Carson will depart the club this summer when his contract concludes.
Carson, 39, joined City on loan in 2019 before making the move permanent in 2021 on a free transfer.
Though limited in appearances, he remained a respected figure within Pep Guardiola’s squad.
He made his City debut in May 2021 against Newcastle United and later featured in the Champions League round of 16 second leg clash with Sporting CP during the 2021/22 season.
“Everyone at Manchester City would like to thank Scott for his hard work and dedication and wish him the very best of luck for the future,” City’s statement said on Monday.
