Chelsea have completed the signing of Brazil international Joao Pedro from Brighton & Hove Albion on a long-term deal, with the 23-year-old penning a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge.
The talented forward has immediately joined up with his new teammates as the Blues gear up for their FIFA Club World Cup quarter-final showdown against Palmeiras.
“Everyone knows this is a big club with a great history,” Pedro told Chelsea’s official website. “They had brilliant players in the past and have brilliant players now. So I am excited to join and you know when you are a Chelsea player you must think one thing — win.”
Pedro began his career with Brazilian heavyweights Fluminense, where his flair and instinctive eye for goal quickly drew attention.
He scored 10 goals in 36 appearances for the Rio-based club before securing a move to England.
His development continued at Watford, where he spent four seasons, racking up 109 appearances and netting 24 goals.
His leadership qualities were also recognized as he occasionally captained the side during the 2022/23 season — all before his 22nd birthday.
In 2023, the dynamic attacker joined Brighton & Hove Albion and hit the ground running. He marked his debut with a goal and went on to enjoy a stellar campaign, tallying 19 goals in all competitions and ending the season as one of the Seagulls’ joint-top scorers.
Renowned for his versatility across the front line, Pedro also brings international pedigree, having earned three caps for Brazil. His latest appearance came in a 2–1 victory over Colombia.
