Former Super Eagles defender, Ifeanyi Udeze, has praised Chelsea’s impressive display against Paris Saint-Germain, saying the Blues fully merited their victory and are worthy winners of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Chelsea delivered a commanding performance, with Cole Palmer playing a starring role.
The midfielder opened the scoring with a clinical finish from Malo Gusto’s cut-back, then doubled the lead with a similar effort just eight minutes later.
Palmer was also instrumental in Chelsea’s third, setting up new signing Joao Pedro, who calmly chipped Gianluigi Donnarumma to extend his scoring form following a brace against Fluminense.
PSG’s night went from bad to worse after Joao Neves was shown a red card for pulling Marc Cucurella’s hair in the closing stages.
Speaking during a post-match analysis on SportyTV, Udeze admitted he was initially doubtful of Chelsea’s chances but was impressed by their attacking approach and composure.
“Congratulations to Chelsea. If anyone had told me that Chelsea would defeat PSG, I would have doubted it.
“Chelsea played very well, attacked PSG nicely, and won the game when it mattered most. Like I said earlier, I didn’t expect Chelsea to beat PSG.”
