Favourites Chelsea cruised into the Europa Conference League final on Thursday night with a composed 1-0 victory over Sweden’s Djurgarden, sealing a dominant 5-1 aggregate win.
The only goal of the match arrived in the 38th minute, courtesy of one of the few experienced players on the pitch, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
The midfielder latched onto a smart pass from Tyrique George, weaved past two defenders, and slotted a precise left-foot finish beyond goalkeeper Jacob Rinner.
Already holding a comfortable 4-1 advantage from the first leg, and with their focus split between Europe and a tight Premier League battle for a Champions League berth, Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca opted to rotate heavily.
His youthful lineup featured several academy talents, including 16-year-old forward Reggie Walsh, who made his full debut.
The Blues will face a tougher test in the final, scheduled for May 28 in Wroclaw, Poland, where they’ll meet either Spain’s Real Betis or Italian side Fiorentina.
