Scottish Premiership holders, Celtic have completed the capture of Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho on a short-term deal.
The forward has penned a one-year contract with an option for a further season, the club confirmed.
Iheanacho became a free agent after mutually parting ways with LaLiga outfit Sevilla on Monday.
During his brief stint in Spain, the 28-year-old found the net three times in 15 outings across all competitions.
Rodgers’ Influence
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers, who previously managed Iheanacho at Leicester City, played a key role in reuniting with the attacker in Glasgow.
“I know Kelechi so well and what he can bring to the team. He is such a talented player, with great ability, athleticism and work-rate,” Rodgers told the club’s official website.
“I am sure he will love being at Celtic and I believe our fans will love what he brings. He has great experience and he is right in his peak years so he can be a great signing for us. I am sure he will make a big contribution to the team.”
Career Highlights
Iheanacho began his professional journey with Manchester City, where he won the League Cup. His most significant spell came at Leicester City, amassing over 200 appearances and lifting the FA Cup in 2021.
After leaving the Foxes, he joined Sevilla in 2024 before spending the latter half of the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Middlesbrough in the English Championship.
