The Confederation of African Football has selected Nigerian referee Yemisi Eunice Akintoye as one of the 18 match officials for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Akintoye, who earned her FIFA badge in 2020, is a proud member of the Lagos State Football Referees Council.

The 30-year-old caught the attention of CAF officials during a recent preparatory course held in Cairo, Egypt, where she stood out in technical evaluations, fitness drills, and decision-making simulations designed to mirror real match conditions.

Her officiating résumé includes several top-tier assignments such as the CAF Women’s Champions League, the WAFU B U-20 Championship, and the WAFU B Women’s Champions League.

This year’s WAFCON tournament will take place in Morocco from Saturday, July 5 to Saturday, July 26, 2025.

South Africa’s Banyana Banyana, who lifted the trophy in the last edition, will return to defend their title. Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Super Falcons, nine-time champions, have been placed in Group B, alongside Tunisia, Botswana, and Algeria.
