Super Eagles midfielder, Frank Onyeka, is at the centre of transfer speculation, with at least three clubs reportedly circling the Brentford man ahead of a possible move this summer.
The 27-year-old returns to the Gtech Community Stadium after spending the 2024/25 season on loan at German Bundesliga side Augsburg, where he featured in 31 league matches.
Despite his contributions, the German outfit opted not to make the move permanent.
Brentford, meanwhile, are enduring a turbulent off-season. Thomas Frank has exited the club to take over at Tottenham Hotspur, and captain Christian Norgaard is poised to join Arsenal.
Adding to their woes, Bryan Mbeumo is believed to be nearing a high-profile switch to Manchester United.
Amid this upheaval, the Bees are yet to name a permanent manager. However, reports suggest that set-piece coach Keith Andrews is set to step up and take the reins. Whether he views Onyeka as part of his plans remains to be seen.
Burnley, Stuttgart, and Fiorentina Monitor Onyeka
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, newly promoted Premier League side Burnley are among the clubs expressing interest in Onyeka.
The Clarets, eager to build a squad strong enough to avoid immediate relegation, reportedly view the Nigerian international as a key target.
In Germany, VfB Stuttgart could offer Onyeka a Bundesliga return, while Italian side Fiorentina have also been credited with interest, providing the midfielder with potential options across Europe.
Brentford Yet to Decide on Onyeka’s Future
Although Onyeka still has two years remaining on his contract with Brentford, his long-term future appears uncertain. Having been deemed surplus to requirements last season, it remains unclear whether Norgaard’s departure could open a door for him to re-establish himself at the club.
Keith Andrews may use the pre-season to assess the midfielder before making a final decision.
However, with Brentford expected to bring in new midfield reinforcements this summer, the path to regular minutes for Onyeka appears narrow.
Since joining from FC Midtjylland in 2021, Onyeka has made 78 appearances across all competitions for Brentford.
