An explosion occurred near an army barracks in Abuja, reportedly killing a suspected suicide bomber, leaving at least one person others injured.
Metro Punch gathered that the blast reportedly occurred directly opposite the Mogadishu Cantonment in the Asokoro area of the capital city on Monday evening.
In a brief statement issued by the Nigerian Army, the incident was confirmed, although specific details were not provided.
However, the military assured the public that the situation is under control.
“Explosion At Bus Stop Opposite Mogadishu Cantonment Abuja.
Situation Under Control,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, sources told The PUNCH that one person sustained injuries in the aftermath of the explosion.
“There was an explosion around our area today. I can’t categorically say, it was a case of suicide bombing has been peddled. But what is sure is that there was an explosion, ” One of the sources said.
