Heavyweight boxing icon, Lennox Lewis, has thrown his weight behind Joseph Parker as the only fighter capable of dethroning undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk.

The British great made the declaration after Usyk once again outclassed Daniel Dubois, defeating the British boxer for the second time, this latest win extending the Ukrainian’s flawless professional record to 24 victories.

Usyk’s dominance over British heavyweights continues to grow, having now dispatched Dubois, Tyson Fury, and Anthony Joshua over the past four years.

But Joseph Parker has forced his way back into the title conversation with a string of impressive performances.

The New Zealander is enjoying a stellar resurgence, boasting victories over former world champions Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang, putting him in prime position for a world title shot.

In a conversation with DAZN, Lewis emphasized Parker’s credentials as a legitimate threat to Usyk’s reign.

“I don’t see anyone in the division beating him right now,” Lewis told DAZN.

“I think Joseph Parker has the best chance right now. I think they’ve been freezing Joseph Parker out. Joseph Parker needs that next fight, so get him in there.

“Joseph Parker has been waiting for his chance. I don’t know why he hasn’t had it yet. I think he should be the next fight.”

With Lewis backing him and an impressive resume in recent fights, Parker’s call for a title shot may be growing too loud to ignore.
