Chief Olabode George, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Board of Trustees, has strongly condemned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for authorizing the sealing of the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja.

In an interview with Ariste Television on Monday, George accused Wike of betraying the party that nurtured his political career, describing the minister’s action as “sacrilegious” and politically reckless.

“In regards to the locking up of our Party Secretariat, it is absolutely sacrilegious, unacceptable and culturally inadmissible. The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Wike—this is the party that brought you to life,” George declared.

The PDP stalwart drew a sharp analogy, comparing Wike’s action to a man sealing his own family house over a minor dispute.

“It’s like going back to your village and your family house hasn’t paid some ground rent, and you, as the local government chairman, lock it up. How much were we owing? Seven million naira—which you could easily pay,” George stated.

He recounted Wike’s political trajectory within the PDP, noting how the party platform propelled him from local government chairman to Chief of Staff, two-term Rivers State governor, and ultimately Minister of State.

George suggested political motives behind the sealing, which occurred hours before a critical PDP National Executive Committee meeting. He challenged Wike to apply similar scrutiny to the ruling All Progressives Congres headquarters.

“I want to challenge him that they should go and check that the property being used by APC at their headquarters in Abuja, could probably be the same thing. People could be careless. It is not a monumental amount of money,” he said.

The PDP chieftain maintained the action was deliberately timed to disrupt party affairs, describing it as malicious. The secretariat sealing has intensified tensions within the opposition party, with many members viewing it as Wike’s latest provocation since his controversial alignment with the ruling APC government.
