Tragedy struck on 2025 Arafat Day as a pilgrim from Bauchi State, Abdullahi Adamu, passed away while engaged in prayer on the revered plains of Mount Arafat.
Adamu, hailing from Ganjuwa Local Government Area, was among the pilgrims representing Bauchi State on the sacred journey to Saudi Arabia for the 2025 Hajj.
The Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board confirmed his passing and extended heartfelt condolences to his family and the people of Ganjuwa.
According to the Board, Adamu died during a moment of deep religious devotion, taking part in one of the holiest rites of the Hajj pilgrimage.
In line with Islamic customs and the official protocols of the Saudi Hajj authorities, all burial arrangements were duly observed.
The Board also stated it has remained in close communication with the deceased’s family to offer support and provide regular updates.
Fellow pilgrims remembered Adamu as a man of humility and unwavering faith, who spent his final moments in worship amidst a sea of fellow Muslims gathered in spiritual reflection.
Executive Secretary of the Bauchi Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Imam Abdulrahman Idris, remarked, “This is a deeply emotional loss, not only for his family but for the entire Bauchi pilgrim community. To die on Arafat Day, in a state of Ihram and prayer, is regarded in Islam as a most honorable and blessed end.”
