French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco have completed the signing of Spanish international, Ansu Fati, on a season-long loan from FC Barcelona, with an option to make the move permanent.
The club confirmed the arrival of the 22-year-old attacker in an official statement published on their website on Tuesday.
“AS Monaco are delighted to announce the arrival of Ansu Fati. The 22-year-old Spanish international striker joins on loan from FC Barcelona for the 2025/2026 season, with an option to buy.
“Born in Bissau (Guinea-Bissau) on 31 October 2002, Ansu Fati grew up in Spain (Andalusia), where he moved at the age of six. He began playing football at CDF Herrera, before moving on to Sevilla FC, before joining La Masia, FC Barcelona’s youth academy, in 2012.
“He made his professional debut for Barça on 25 August 2019, aged just 16. A precocious talent, he quickly proved his worth in La Liga and the Champions League. On 10 December, he scored the winning goal against Inter Milan (2-1) and became, at 17 years and 40 days, the youngest goalscorer in the competition’s history.
“He finished the 2019-2020 season with over 30 appearances and 8 goals, finishing second in the 2020 Golden Boy award, which honors the best player under 21 in Europe.
“With Barcelona, where he played in several attacking positions – winger, attacking midfielder, striker – he made 123 appearances (29 goals and 8 assists) and won two Spanish league titles (2023 and 2025), two Spanish Cups (2021 and 2025) and two Spanish Super Cups (2023 and 2025).”
Fati, who once emerged as Barcelona’s next big hope following Lionel Messi’s departure, had previously stated he felt no pressure taking over the legendary number 10 shirt.

In another transfer coup, Monaco had on Monday announced the acquisition of French midfielder Paul Pogba.
The 2018 World Cup winner signed a two-year deal with the club, marking his return to professional football after being out of action for seven months.
Pogba had been a free agent since mutually terminating his contract with Juventus in November 2024.
His exit from the Serie A club followed a doping suspension, which was initially a four-year ban in February 2024 but was later reduced to 18 months.
