Barcelona still don’t feel like champion, says Flick after Real Madrid win

Barcelona manager, Hansi Flick, has urged caution despite his side securing a dramatic 4-3 win over Real Madrid on Sunday, a result that significantly boosts their chances of clinching the La Liga title.

The Catalan giants now sit seven points ahead at the top of the table with only three matches remaining, needing just two more points to be crowned champions.

Since taking charge last summer, Flick has now led Barcelona to four consecutive victories over their arch-rivals, with his side netting 16 goals across those encounters, an average of four per game, highlighting the attacking transformation under his leadership.

Yet, Flick remains grounded. Speaking after the thrilling encounter, the German coach stated, “I still don’t feel like a champion.

“We’re in a good place, yes. But we still need three points, and everyone wants to beat us. If we stay focused, we’ll get there.”

Flick also had high praise for teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, who once again impressed with his maturity and contribution to the team’s comeback.

“He’s doing very well and believes in what he’s doing. He’s very smart. For me, the best thing is that after Tuesday, everyone was focused on today’s game. He helped us come back, and at 17 years old, he had a great game today,” he noted.

Meanwhile, Flick provided an update on young defender Pau Cubarsi, who was taken off after appearing uncomfortable.

“He had a stomach issue. But he told us he could go for another ten or fifteen minutes if needed,” the manager added.
