Marcus Rashford has hailed his move to Barcelona as a dream come true, describing the Spanish giants as “a club where people’s dreams come true” after sealing a season-long loan switch from Manchester United.
The deal includes an option for the Catalan club to make the transfer permanent in 2026 for £30.3 million.
In an interview on Barcelona’s official YouTube channel, as reported by BBC Sport, Rashford spoke glowingly about the opportunity to begin a new chapter in his career.
“I’m very excited,” the England international said. “It’s a club where people’s dreams come true, they win big prizes.
“What the club stands for means a lot for me. I feel like I’m at home and a big factor in my choice to come here is because it is a family place and a good place for good players to showcase their skills.”
Rashford also revealed that discussions with head coach Hansi Flick played a key role in convincing him to make the move to Camp Nou.
“Another factor is because the conversations I had with [Hansi Flick] were positive. What he did last season was terrific. To lead such a young team to a very successful season and come back to pre-season and still want to do more, it shows me everything I thought I knew about the club and it’s everything I wished.
“I’m eager to learn the Barcelona way.”
The 26-year-old’s departure from Old Trafford had been on the horizon for months.
Former United manager, Ruben Amorim, excluded him from the squad that faced Manchester City in the derby on December 15 and publicly questioned his commitment.
Amorim sparked controversy when he said he would “rather give a spot on the bench to his 63-year-old goalkeeping coach than a player who doesn’t give the maximum every day.”
Rashford spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, where he made 17 appearances and earned a recall to the England squad.
Though he returned to Manchester United at the end of the campaign, his future remained in doubt.
Alongside four other players, Rashford reportedly requested to leave the club and was told to train separately from the main group.
Now, his switch to Barcelona represents a fresh beginning, one he believes aligns with both his personal values and footballing aspirations.
