The multifaceted entertainer and politician, Bankole Wellington, better known as Banky W, has celebrated a major academic milestone, revealing he has earned a Master’s degree in Policy Management from Georgetown University, Washington D.C.
The announcement came via his Instagram page on Tuesday, where he opened up about the demanding yet rewarding journey of navigating academics, fatherhood, and public service in the U.S.
“I am thankful to share that I have just earned my Master’s degree in Policy Management (some institutions call it an MPA — Master’s of Public Administration),” he wrote.
In the midst of his rigorous academic schedule, Banky W and his wife also welcomed their second child, Hezekiah Oluwadarasimi Wellington, a moment he described as both joyful and challenging.
“Parenting two children in the US, while earning a full-time Master’s and serving as a Fellow on Capitol Hill all at the same time was completely exhausting, but by the grace of God, the strength of faith and the support of family and friends, we did it,” he shared.
Reflecting on the transformative journey, the singer-turned-politician spoke about growth, faith, and the importance of pausing to evaluate one’s progress and direction in life.
“What many may see as the finish line of a journey can become the starting point of the next chapter of your story,” he said.
“You can’t pour from an empty cup, and so sometimes, it is necessary to step off the dance floor and onto the balcony… to reflect on how far you have come, who you are, and who you would like to become.”
He concluded with a heartfelt message of encouragement to those who may be struggling, reminding them that there’s always room for a new beginning.
Banky W, who previously ran for a seat in Nigeria’s House of Representatives under the PDP, continues to blaze trails across entertainment, politics, and public policy, demonstrating that reinvention is always possible.
