A 10-year-old chess prodigy from Yobe State, Mohammed Mubarak, is poised to make history as the youngest athlete at the 2025 National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State.
Before leaving for Asaba, Mubarak shared his excitement, revealing that he started playing chess at the age of seven and has actively competed in state and zonal elimination tournaments.
His coach, Chuxphoenix, expressed confidence in the young talent, highlighting his experience in the sporting arena.
“With his passion for chess and determination to succeed, Mubarak is set to make a mark at the 2025 National Youth Games,” Chuxphoenix stated.
The upcoming event marks Mubarak’s debut on the national stage, and he is eager to demonstrate his skills against some of the country’s best young athletes.
The 9th National Youth Games are scheduled to hold in Asaba, Delta State, from August 29 to September 6, 2025.
The event will see participation from all 36 states and the FCT across 37 sports disciplines, including athletics, football, basketball, and more, aiming to foster unity and discipline through sports.
