Arteta hints at more Arsenal signings despite £123.5m spent on transfer

Arsenal head coach, Mikel Arteta, has hinted that the club’s summer spending spree isn’t over yet, despite already splashing £123.5 million on new additions.

The Spaniard emphasized the need to bolster the squad further, citing a lack of depth and the necessity to improve overall quality.

So far, the Gunners have secured deals for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, former Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, Brentford captain Christian Norgaard, and winger Noni Madueke.

However, their activity in the market is far from done. Arsenal remain locked in negotiations over a €73.5 million (£63.5 million) transfer for Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, while also pursuing highly-rated Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera.

The club had initially planned to finalize Gyokeres’ transfer in time for him to join their preseason tour.

Although the deal remains incomplete, Arteta has left the door open for further arrivals during their Asian campaign.

Arteta Still Eyeing Reinforcements

Speaking to the BBC, Arteta didn’t dismiss the possibility of new arrivals joining up with the squad as they travel.

“There’s still a long time in the window and we are seeking still,” he said.

“In terms of numbers, we are short and we have to improve the depth and quality of the squad. We are constantly looking in the market.

“Until that happens, [we] focus on the players we have – and I’m very pleased with what I have seen in the last 10-15 days.”

Arsenal are currently in Singapore, where they are set to face AC Milan and Newcastle United, before heading to Hong Kong for a clash against local rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

With a new Premier League campaign on the horizon, Arsenal are determined to finally end their 22-year wait for a league title, having come close in the past three seasons.
