Arsenal and Italian defender, Riccardo Calafiori, has expressed his readiness to make a strong impression in the upcoming Premier League season following a challenging start to life in England.

The 22-year-old joined the Gunners with high expectations but saw his debut campaign disrupted by persistent injury setbacks.

Now, as the new season approaches, Calafiori says he’s determined to bounce back and prove his worth.

In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, he reflected on the frustrations of last season and his focus moving forward:

“Last year injuries stopped me because in the matches I was used in I think I always responded in the right way. That’s why now I’m only focused on working well and finding the best condition. I’m ready.

“The intensity in England is completely different from that in Italy, but for me, it wasn’t a problem at all. In fact, I feel like I’ve been here longer, forever.”

Looking ahead to the international stage, Calafiori also shared thoughts on Italy’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

With Rino Gattuso stepping in to replace Luciano Spalletti as the national team coach, the defender is optimistic about the Azzurri’s chances.

“I spoke to Gattuso on the phone and he made a great impression on me. I’ll meet him on the pitch at Coverciano.

“Let’s just say the situation we’re in isn’t easy, but we have to believe in it. Italy can’t miss another World Cup.”

As Calafiori gears up for a new chapter with Arsenal and renewed ambitions with the Italian national team, both club and country will be hoping he stays fit and delivers on his potential.
