Arsenal reportedly bid for Chelsea’s Madueke

Arsenal have reportedly made an offer to Chelsea winger, Noni Madueke, as the North London club look to reinforce their attacking department ahead of the 2025/26 season.

With Chelsea set for another round of summer arrivals under manager Enzo Maresca, Madueke could be among the players heading for the exit.

Discussions have already begun, and the former PSV winger is believed to be one of the top names on Arsenal’s shortlist for offensive reinforcements.

Madueke featured regularly for Chelsea last term, playing a vital role under Maresca as the Blues not only sealed a Champions League return but also lifted the UEFA Conference League trophy.

Despite that, the England international’s long-term future remains in question due to fierce competition in wide areas.

Arsenal, on the other hand, are eager to sharpen their front line following a goal-shy 2024/25 campaign.

According to Sky Sports Germany (via Express), “an offer has been made to the player,” although Arsenal are yet to table a formal bid to Chelsea.

Madueke is not the only forward on Mikel Arteta’s radar. The Gunners are also reportedly eyeing Real Madrid’s Brazilian star Rodrygo and Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze.

However, a move for Rodrygo hinges on whether the attacker decides to seek a departure from the Bernabéu, where he has played second fiddle to Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior.

Arsenal and Chelsea, frequent transfer collaborators, are also said to be deep in negotiations over goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who could be making a switch across the capital to the Emirates.

The two clubs have a history of player movement between them, with Jorginho and Kai Havertz previously trading Stamford Bridge for North London.

In 2006, Chelsea famously secured Ashley Cole’s services from Arsenal in a deal that involved cash and William Gallas.

With the new Premier League season approaching, Arsenal will be aiming to end their title drought after finishing second for three consecutive campaigns, twice behind Manchester City (2022/23 and 2023/24) and most recently trailing Liverpool, who claimed a record-equaling 20th league crown alongside Manchester United.
