The Nigerian Army has declared a solemn three-day period of mourning in honour of the brave soldiers who lost their lives during recent terrorist attacks in Niger State.

The tragic incident occurred when armed insurgents launched coordinated assaults on the communities of Kwanar Dutse Mairiga and Boka, leading to the death of several military personnel and leaving many others wounded.

Despite the heavy losses, the Army reported that a significant number of the assailants were also neutralised in the fierce exchange.

In a brief statement released on Thursday via its official Facebook page, the Nigerian Army Headquarters announced that the mourning would last from June 25 to June 27.

“All Nigerian Army formations and units have been directed to fly the Nigerian Army flag at half-mast.

“During this period, we pay our deepest respects to these fallen heroes and extend our heartfelt condolences to their families and loved ones.

“Their unwavering dedication, valour, and sacrifice in defense of our nation will forever be remembered and cherished,” the statement read.

This observance stands as a tribute to the gallantry and sacrifice of the troops who paid the ultimate price in service to their country.
