A group of heavily armed kidnappers launched a brazen attack on Grow Homes Estate in Kubwa’s Chikakore area early Monday morning, holding residents hostage for over an hour in what witnesses described as a terrifying ordeal.

According to eyewitness accounts obtained by Vanguard, the invasion occurred between 12am and 1:30am, with the assailants overpowering local security before taking hostages. One resident confirmed seeing a man and woman being abducted, though the woman was mysteriously released by dawn.

“The incident happened around 12am. Those guys were well-armed, and they overpowered the local vigilance team. The police came at about 1am, and there was a fierce exchange of gunfire for about 30 minutes,” a shaken resident revealed.

The exact number of abductees remains unclear as authorities continue their investigation. Residents expressed frustration over security challenges exacerbated by poor infrastructure, pleading for government intervention.

“We are begging the government to fix this road for easy access for security patrol vehicles. We also beg the police and, of course, the FCT Administration to help site a station here for rapid response,” the resident added, highlighting the community’s vulnerability.
