The Kaduna State Commissioner for Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, has characterized the All Progressives Congress’s triumph in the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency by-election as a validation of Governor Uba Sani’s inclusive governance style.

The statement came after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared APC candidates victorious in Chikun/Kajuru, Zaria Kewaye, and Basawa State Assembly constituencies.

“This victory is both historic and symbolic,” Maiyaki told journalists, emphasizing that Chikun/Kajuru had previously remained an opposition stronghold until Saturday’s polls. Official results showed the APC securing 34,580 votes in the federal constituency, decisively defeating the Peoples Democratic Party with 11,491 votes, while the African Democratic Congress and Social Democratic Party garnered 3,477 and 142 votes respectively.

The commissioner attributed the electoral success to Governor Sani’s development initiatives, including road infrastructure projects, healthcare and education upgrades, and enhanced security measures.

“The people have spoken — they want progressive leadership. The outcome of this election shows that Kaduna residents believe in the governor’s inclusive governance style,” Maiyaki stated.

He described the win as strategically significant, noting it both expands APC’s territorial influence and consolidates the party’s position ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“Chikun and Kajuru are no longer opposition enclaves. The APC’s grip on Kaduna’s future is becoming stronger by the day,” the information commissioner declared.
