The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate for the November 8 Anambra election, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, has pledged to deliver the state to the ruling party.

He made this declaration while addressing State House correspondents after receiving the APC flag from President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa on Monday.

Ukachukwu, who was presented alongside his deputy governorship candidate Senator Uche Ekwunife, revealed that President Tinubu charged them to bring Anambra into the national political mainstream.

“He has given us a charge to go and bring Anambra to the centre, and that’s what we’re going to do. Anambra cannot continue to be a one-party system,” Ukachukwu stated.

The APC flagbearer cited the President’s recent visit to Anambra as evidence of growing support for the party.

“The President was in Anambra recently and saw how ready and how charged the party people are in Anambra. He was happy about the turnout of the people that came out to receive him,” he said.

Ukachukwu expressed confidence in APC’s victory, claiming his movement had significantly weakened the All Progressives Grand Alliance.

“I was a former senatorial candidate of APGA. I left APGA with all my supporters to join APC. The Labour Party, the YPP and other political parties have joined us in the journey,” he explained.

The governorship hopeful revealed growing momentum for the APC in the state, saying “We have over 80 groups that are lining up to join us. This makes APC to be bigger. It means nothing is left of APGA in the state.”

Drawing parallels with other states, Ukachukwu dismissed concerns about defeating an incumbent administration. “It’s not the first time an incumbent will be losing an election; it happened in Zamfara, in Imo and other places. Even in Anambra too, so it’s not new to us in Anambra,” he added.

The November 8 election will test Ukachukwu’s claims as he seeks to break APGA’s stronghold on Anambra politics and deliver the state to the ruling APC for the first time in the state’s history.
