Anthony Joshua hints at retirement before year end

British boxing star, Anthony Joshua, has revealed he may be hanging up his gloves before the year ends.

The 35-year-old hasn’t stepped into the ring since suffering a fifth-round knockout loss to fellow Briton Daniel Dubois at Wembley last September.

Now, as speculation swirls about his next move, Joshua has hinted that the end of his boxing journey is near.

During an appearance on the Ariel Helwani Show, the former heavyweight champion reflected on his career and expressed deep appreciation for his long-time promoters, Matchroom Boxing, who have guided him since his professional debut in 2013.

“Long may you reign supreme and keep giving fighters opportunities to become champions and make boxing great,” Joshua said, praising the company’s legacy and influence in the sport.

He then dropped a strong hint about retirement, saying, “12 years ago, I signed with you and 12 years later I will throw my last punch with you.”

“Royalty and loyalty is a perfect match for the great good. A toast to another 100 years of Matchroom Boxing,” he continued, in what may be one of his final public tributes as an active fighter.

Joshua closed his remarks on a reflective note, “And to finish on this… If I could start from scratch, I wouldn’t change shit.”

Though there’s no official confirmation yet, his words have sparked talk that 2025 could mark the end of an illustrious era for one of boxing’s biggest names.
