The Managing Director of Dutum Construction Ltd., Mr Temitope Runsewe, has hailed the newly inaugurated ‘Iconic Light of the Nation Tower’ as a landmark that firmly places Anambra State on Nigeria’s tourism map.

Runsewe, whose firm handled the construction of the tower, made this assertion in Awka on Thursday during the commissioning of key infrastructure projects by President Bola Tinubu.

President Tinubu was in the state to commission several landmark projects executed under the administration of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo. Among the projects unveiled were the Solution FunCity, the Anambra Country Club, the new Government House, the Government Lodge, the New Presidential Lodge, and the Emeka Anyaoku Centre at Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

A highlight of the occasion was the unveiling of the ‘Iconic Light of the Nation Tower’ located at the new Government House, which stands as a symbolic expression of the state’s official slogan, ‘Light of the Nation’.

Runsewe described the tower as more than just a piece of infrastructure. “The tower is both a beautification effort and a tourist attraction for residents and visitors. This is more than a visual landmark; it is a long-term economic asset boosting Anambra’s national tourism profile,” he said.

He further explained that the project, which stands at 40 metres in height, was completed within six months, showcasing both dedication and technical proficiency. The structure features a captivating water fountain at its base and is crowned with a globe that symbolises the state’s global aspirations and its identity as the ‘Light of the Nation’.

According to Runsewe, the success of the project demonstrates what can be achieved through synergy between a visionary state government and a capable construction partner.

“The project showcases effective collaboration between a visionary government and a capable construction firm,” he added.
