London’s Metropolitan Police announced on Saturday that a second man has been charged in connection with a 2023 assault incident involving American R&B singer Chris Brown.

Omololu Akinlolu, a 38-year-old U.S. national, faces charges of causing grievous bodily harm and is set to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court in northwestern England.

Brown, the 36-year-old Grammy-winning artist and former boyfriend of superstar Rihanna, was remanded in custody on Friday until June 13 by a Manchester court. He has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm over an alleged assault that took place at a venue in London’s Hanover Square on February 19, 2023.

The judge’s decision to deny Brown bail has cast uncertainty over the start of his upcoming tour, which includes sold-out shows in the Netherlands on June 8 and Germany on June 11.

Brown, known for mid-2000s hits like “Kiss, Kiss,” has a history of legal troubles, including a felony conviction for assaulting Rihanna in 2009.

The singer was detained after reportedly arriving at Manchester Airport via private jet on Wednesday afternoon. According to media reports, police took him into custody at a five-star hotel in the city.

The case continues to develop as both Brown and Akinlolu face legal proceedings in the UK.
