Al-Hilal have reportedly stepped up their pursuit of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen with an improved offer aimed at making him the highest-paid African footballer in history.

According to Goal, the Saudi Pro League giants have proposed a staggering €50 million annual salary, excluding bonuses, for the 26-year-old Super Eagles star.

The club had earlier triggered Osimhen’s €75 million release clause and tabled a €30 million yearly deal, which he turned down.

Despite missing out on finalizing the move before the FIFA Club World Cup, Al-Hilal’s determination to land the Nigerian forward remains undeterred.

Al-Hilal already offered to pay Osimhen €30m per year, after they activated his €75m release clause, but he rejected the offer.

Now, with renewed urgency, they are ready to go all out to lure Osimhen to the Middle East.

According to Goal, the Saudi Pro League side have tabled a contract offer worth up to €50m per year without bonuses, in a bid to tempt the 26-year-old.

If successful, Osimhen would overtake Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez as the top-earning African player.

Mahrez, who plays for Al-Ahli following his move from Manchester City, currently earns €1,003,846 per week.
