The Federal Road Safety Corps Akwa Ibom Sector Command has issued a stern warning to motorists against violating critical traffic rules that endanger the lives of road users.

Sector Commander Mr. Francis Ajatta issued the caution in a statement on Monday in Uyo, emphasizing that the command has launched a special patrol operation to arrest and prosecute offenders.

“The special operation is a measure to ensure the safety of road users, especially in this rainy season, and to further deter intending offenders against any act of recklessness behind the wheel,” Ajatta stated.

He listed key offences being targeted, including driving against traffic (one-way driving), overloading, driving without wipers or with broken windshields, and operating vehicles without valid documents.

Ajatta urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid unsafe practices that could compromise road safety. “The general public is also advised to leverage the FRSC Mobile Application or the Toll-free Line –122 to promptly report any road crash and other emergencies,” he added.

The intensified enforcement comes as part of efforts to curb reckless driving and reduce accidents during the rainy season, when hazardous road conditions heighten risks for motorists and pedestrians alike.
