Senate President Godswill Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio arrived back in Nigeria early Monday morning, ending speculation about his health that had circulated during his brief absence.

Akpabio landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja around 4 a.m., where he was welcomed by senators, aides, and supporters at the presidential wing.

The Senate President had traveled to Geneva, Switzerland, from July 29 to 31 to attend the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament. After the event, his extended stay abroad sparked rumors on social media, with unverified claims suggesting he was critically ill and hospitalized in London.

Addressing journalists upon his return, Akpabio firmly denied the reports. “There’s nothing like such. I’m fit as a fiddle. I only stopped over in London for a short vacation,” he stated. His return reassures the public and dispels the unfounded rumors that had gained traction online.
