Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, have sealed a spot in the quarter-finals of the 2025 AfroBasket after overcoming Cameroon 99-90 in their last Group B clash on Sunday in Angola.
The victory ensured Nigeria topped the group with a perfect record, having earlier stunned defending champions Tunisia and outclassed Madagascar.
D’Tigers stamped their authority from the tip-off, dominating the first three quarters with scores of 28-25, 30-16, and 26-12 respectively.
Cameroon, however, fought back strongly in the final quarter, snatching it 37-15, but the Nigerians had already done enough to secure the win.
After the group phase, Nigeria finished first, followed by Cameroon in second place, Tunisia in third, while Madagascar occupied the bottom spot.
The result sets up a quarter-final showdown for D’Tigers against either Senegal or South Sudan on August 20. Hosts Angola and North African giants Egypt have also advanced to the last eight.
