AFM invites Amusan, Brume, 27 others for Commonwealth Games camp

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria has unveiled a 29-member squad for residential camping in Abuja as preparations intensify for the 2026 Commonwealth Games scheduled to hold in Glasgow, Scotland.

The athletes, made up of 14 men and 15 women, are expected to arrive at the National Sports Commission Commonwealth Games Camp on Thursday, June 25, 2026, where they will commence final preparations ahead of the competition next month.

AFN Secretary-General, Israel Inwang, explained that the athletes were selected based on their performances at the recently concluded National Trials held at the Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) Sports Complex in Lagos.

He added that outstanding foreign-based athletes who were unable to attend the trials due to visa-related challenges were considered through their season-best performances.
