Cyriel Dessers has finally addressed his premature exit from the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Super Eagles forward was compelled to return to his Greek club last week after suffering a thigh injury during training with the national team.
Dessers, who previously starred for Rangers, did not feature for Nigeria at the AFCON 2025 finals before the setback.
Ahead of Nigeria’s Round of 16 showdown with the Mambas of Mozambique, head coach Éric Chelle disclosed that the Panathinaikos striker is expected to be out for approximately 10 to 12 weeks.
Taking to social media, Dessers shared his disappointment, writing, “Unfortunately I sustained an injury at AFCON. It’s extremely difficult to accept that I will miss the remainder of the tournament and an important period at Panathinaikos.
“I will be our biggest fan in these weeks, go full in rehab and hopefully we can celebrate a win and goal together soon.”
