Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election in the Osun State governorship election.
Atiku, in a statement shared on his X handle on Sunday, described Adeleke’s victory as a reflection of the choice made by the people of the state at the polls.
He said, “I congratulate Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election as Governor of Osun State. His victory demonstrates the choice of the people of Osun as expressed at the ballot box.”
The former vice president also praised Osun residents for their peaceful participation in the election.
“I commend the people for their passion and peaceful participation. I wish Governor Adeleke continued success as he continues to serve them,” he added.
The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Adeleke, candidate of the Accord Party, the winner after he secured 511,067 votes.
His closest challenger, the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, polled 444,815 votes.
