The African Democratic Congress coalition has announced a new venue for the official unveiling of its political platform after a sudden cancellation by an Abuja hotel disrupted its earlier plans.
The highly anticipated unveiling, backed by a coalition of opposition politicians, faced an unexpected setback when the management of the Wells Carlton Hotel and Apartments in Abuja issued a last-minute cancellation notice. The hotel cited an “internal compliance matter” as the reason for calling off the event.
Dele Momodu, a well-known media personality, politician, and prominent member of the coalition, shared the cancellation notice on Instagram.
The hotel’s notice read: “Dear Esteemed Patron, Thank you once again for choosing the Wells Carlton Hotel and Apartments. We sincerely regret to inform you that due to what has just come to our attention, we are unable to proceed with hosting your scheduled event.
“We are fully aware that the event is less than 24 hours away, and we deeply apologise for the timing and inconvenience this may cause.”
Undeterred by the abrupt development, the coalition has now secured a new location for the official unveiling.
In a statement issued by its Deputy National Secretary, Nkem Ukandu, the coalition revealed that the event would now take place at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, starting at 2:00 pm.
“Members of the National Working Committee, National Executive Committee, BOT, and other key stakeholders and members are expected to attend.
“Please note that attendance is self-sponsored,” the statement read.
Despite the initial disruption, the coalition appears set to move forward with its agenda, reaffirming its commitment to launching what it describes as a fresh political alternative ahead of the 2027 elections.
