The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, Sen. David Mark, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to maintain strict impartiality and transparency in Saturday’s by-elections across the country.

The call was contained in a goodwill message to ADC candidates issued through his media adviser, Paul Mumeh.

Mark emphasized the need for INEC to conduct a credible process that would restore public confidence in Nigeria’s electoral system. The ADC is fielding candidates in Senatorial, House of Representatives, and State Houses of Assembly by-elections in Anambra, Edo, Oyo, Taraba, Adamawa, Kaduna, Zamfara, Kano, Niger, and Ogun states.

Describing the ADC as a “child of necessity,” Mark stated that the party emerged from a genuine desire to provide Nigerians with better governance alternatives. He appealed to voters to give the party an opportunity to demonstrate its capacity to deliver on its promises.

The former Senate President issued a strong reminder to INEC, noting that “all eyes are on the commission” to rectify past mistakes that have damaged its credibility. He stressed that Saturday’s elections presented a crucial chance for INEC to redeem its reputation through truly free, fair, and credible polls.

Mark commended ADC candidates for their commitment to the democratic process while urging them and their supporters to strictly adhere to electoral laws. He advised them to remain vigilant against any form of manipulation or intimidation during the elections.

The ADC chairman also called on security agencies to ensure a level playing field for all political parties and candidates. He emphasized the need for security personnel to protect the integrity of the electoral process and allow the people’s will to prevail without interference.
