The African Action Congress, under the leadership of activist Omoyele Sowore, has dissolved its executive committees in Rivers and Yobe States, appointing interim leadership teams to oversee party restructuring ahead of upcoming state congresses.

In an August 14, 2025, letter addressed to the Independent National Electoral Commission, Sowore, the party’s National Chairman, and Ina Okopi Agu, its National Secretary, formally notified the electoral body of the changes.

The letter, titled “Notification of Probationary Appointment of Interim Excos for Rivers and Yobe States,” was also copied to INEC’s Director of Election and Party Monitoring, as well as police commissioners and State Security Service directors in both states.

The newly appointed Rivers State interim executive will be led by Barr. Ms. Ivy West as Chairman, with Dr. Rosebrey Ohia as Secretary and Ureh V. Ozah as Treasurer. Other key members include Fyneface Nwabueze (Financial Secretary), Tammy Victor Williams (Publicity Secretary), Fubara T. Raymond (Organising Secretary), Justina Briggs (Woman Leader), Boma F. Banigo (Youth Leader), and Barr. Sylverline Omubo Stowe (Legal Adviser).

In Yobe State, Abubakar Jawa Musa assumes the role of Chairman, supported by Fatima Aji (Secretary) and Khadija Mu’azu Nguru (Treasurer). Additional appointees include Mohammed Musa Ibrahim (Financial Secretary), Mohammed M. Gujba (Publicity Secretary), Adamu Abubakar Katuzu (Organising Secretary), Hajiya Halima Bashir (Woman Leader), Dumai Saje Musa (Youth Leader), Barr. Dauda Kaku (Legal Adviser), Bassey Uduak (Auditor), and Ahmed Alwali (Vice Chairman).

The party explained that the dissolution of the former executives was necessary to reposition the AAC for grassroots expansion and membership mobilization.

“The interim excos have the mandate to act for and on behalf of the party to set up interim structures for the party at the Local Government and Ward levels to ensure the success of our Party’s membership drive in preparation for the state congresses,” the letter stated.
